50 Years Ago - September 16, 1965

• The first annual Klickitat County Fair Parade was the way the PUD sound truck announced the 15 minute long procession that heralded the start of the fair Saturday morning. The parade was sponsored by the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Posse and was directed by Noel (Witt) Maurer. Led by the Goldendale High School band, the parade included floats from the high school, High Prairie Grange, fire dept., Cadette Troop and Goldendale Ranch Company. The parade went both up and down Main Street, so they both started and finished at the old high school.
