Sagebrush Ball Saturday at Discovery Center

Columbia Gorge Discovery Center will host “A Vintage Evening Sagebrush Ball” fundraiser, Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., BBQ dinner starts 6:30 p.m. and the live auction kicks off at 7:15 p.m. at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive in The Dalles.

Pull on your boots, put on your bandanna, and adjust your bolo tie for this country cowboy dinner and dance benefiting the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum, a non-profit organization.

The SlimJims of Portland will provide great boot-stomping music throughout the evening, and Cowboy poet Ned Bodie will spin tales of western life.

Chow down on some home-style cooking with a full plate of BBQ ribs or chicken, baked beans, potato salad, corn bread and biscuits, corn on the cob, pineapple upside down cake, pies, and chocolate brownies with raspberry sauce.

Belly up to the bar and sample some mighty fine whisky, wine and beer to keep your spirits up.

Take a chance and throw down $5 bucks in a raffle drawing for a $1000 cash prize.

A silent auction and live auction will round out the evening events, featuring a host of packages. Auction items include an escape to Lincoln City, a relaxing trip to Cannon Beach, a musical journey to Eugene for the Bach Festival, custom glass art by Andy Nichols - a first in a series homage to Petroglyphs, an original acrylic painting by Tony Kiser of Mt. Hood, a custom made wine rack, Blazer tickets, a package from Hood River Distillers, a catered dinner in the historic wine cellar of The Mint and much, much more!

Tickets are $45 per person, $400 per table for 10. This is a 21 and older event.

Event tickets and raffle tickets are on sale now at The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce or Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. For information call 541.296-8600 x 201 or visit http://www.gorgediscovery.org.

The annual “A Vintage Evening” auction event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the museum. As the official interpretive center for the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, the mission of the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum is to inspire appreciation and stewardship of the Columbia River Gorge and Wasco County through collection, preservation, and interpretation of cultural and natural history resources. Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Many people are surprised to learn the Discovery Center is not funded by tax dollars; they are funded by memberships, admissions, events, facility rentals, and donations. Memberships are an integral part of financially supporting the museum and their mission.

Discovery Center is located off I-84 exit 82, at 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles, Oregon, 97058. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, phone (541) 296-8600 ext. 201, or visit http://www.gorgediscovery.org.
