Police warn: lock your doors to prevent crimes of opportunity


Goldendale Police are once again cautioning residents about leaving vehicles, garages, and sheds unlocked as burglaries and thefts have been on the rise lately. These are crimes of opportunity, says Officer Jay Hunziker. In most cases people are leaving valuable items in their yards, on porches or in open sheds. Hunziker says there are people who walk around town looking for those opportunities, often to fund their drug habits.

Chief Reggie Bartkowski reported his investigation into a burglary that was an inside job. The initial report of a burglary at the 100 block of East Allyn had some details that seemed fishy to Bartkowski. The reporting party, Daniel Norris, listed a number of items...
