Students excel in Smarter Balanced testing


Goldendale students shined brightly in the Smarter Balanced tests for reading, math and end of course biology, according to Goldendale Superintendent Mark Heid. Smarter Balanced is the latest in the testing tools used by schools to meet federal Common Core standards.

Last year was the first year of testing under the new tools, setting a new baseline for future comparison and growth. “While our scores are not where we need them to be in the future,” says Heid, “they are reflective of the hard, wonderful work done by our students and staff as they prepared for the new testing.”
