Barbed wire assist on stolen car arrest


A Hood River man got tangled up in crime over the weekend. Klickitat County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a suspicious person on Courtney Road in southwestern Klickitat County. A man, later identified as Rodger Ray Welch, of Hood River, was found sitting in a van, apparently dozing when the deputy approached the vehicle. According to the report, Welch was not forthcoming with reasonable answers to the deputy’s questions. When the check on the Oregon license plate came back as belonging to a stolen vehicle, Welch was asked to exit the car. When he was ordered to turn around, Welch bolted into the woods.
