City council delays vote on replacement


The Goldendale City Council did not pick a new council member Monday night to fill the vacancy on the city council created when Mike Canon was appointed as mayor. The decision has been postponed and the application window reopened until Nov. 10, for any other people interested in the open seat.

Three candidates had originally applied for the position—Michael Goodwin, Terry Luth, and Arletta Parton. At Monday night’s meeting, City Administrator Larry Bellamy said he’d been contacted by citizens concerned that ties between the applicants and three of the council members could result in a decision that would not have the appearance of fairness.
