City to have first Veterans' Day parade-with a marching band

 


For the first time ever, Goldendale will have a Veterans’ Day parade. And for the first time in recent memory, it will include a marching band from Goldendale High School.

On Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., the parade will march down Columbus Ave. and then onto Main Street.

“It just hit me one day,” says Scott Robinson on behalf of the Masons, who are organizing the event. “We’ve needed a Veterans’ Day parade for a long time. And the new music teacher at the high school was with us on the idea of a marching band.”

The parade will assemble on Schuster Ave. at 10 a.m. The organization plans to have prize money for parade entries and will also sponsor a free lunch for veterans and particip...
