Dillon Rising runs away with District title, next stop State

FAMILIAR LANDSCAPE: Dillon Rising led from start to finish at Apple Ridge Run. This was the sixth race for Rising on the course, situated in orchards off Naches Heights Road.

Dillon Rising ran away with the District 5 cross-country meet at Apple Ridge. The Goldendale sophomore had a 15 second lead at the completion of the first lap and won the race by 41 seconds. The top three teams earned spots at the State cross-country meet this Saturday in Pasco. Goldendale's team placed fourth behind Royal, Connell and Zillah. Rising ran a 16:01.6 for the course, his best time in three trips to Apple Ridge this year.

Michael Jagelski developed cramps on the second lap of the 5k course and fell out of the top 15 qualifying positions. Jagelski ended up fifth among Timberwolf runners. Just missing the cut for State was freshman Lucas Anderson. Anderson was 17th in 17:40.2, f...
