Pirates upset Cougars' bid for league title

HOME AT THE NET: Freshman Amber Tompkins is establishing herself as a player to be reckoned with as a shot blocker and middle hitter for Lyle-Wishram.

Bickleton dealt a crushing blow to Lyle-Wishram's volleyball team with a 3-2 win at Lyle on Homecoming night, last Friday. The Cougars couldn't help but feel the league trophy was pirated away from them in the midst of one of their best seasons of volleyball. The circumstances of the loss were just as important as the loss itself.

Lyle-Wishram has been on a roll and still may be considered the favored team to win the District tournament, which will be played in Bickleton this Saturday. It started as a promising year when the team, which is loaded with seniors, defeated Dufur at the Dufur jamboree.
