The first class stamp is back


Not look ago, Goldendale Postmaster Jim Hamilton told a group at a meeting, "First class postage is going away." He meant that electronic media was vastly surpassing regular first class mail.

But come the holidays, first class stamps become a hit again, as colorful holiday spirits become handy in the form of little sticky squares that can brighten an envelope. Many people say a stamped envelope still feels a lot more endearing than yet another singing baby or cat-caught-in-window-blinds e-card.
