Council praises police officers

WHAT'S THAT NUMBER: Goldendale Police Chief Reggie Bartkowski holds a Crime Watch sign at the city council meeting Monday night.

Goldendale City Councilors covered a lot of ground in a short time Monday night. They were able to whip through what looked to be a packed agenda in part because no one showed up to testify at either of the two public hearings that kicked off the session-on the 2016 city budget and on the budget revenue sources.

The highlight of the meeting was a declaration of support for law enforcement officers read by Mayor Mike Canon. "I think you're going to see resolutions such as this throughout this country," he said after reading the declaration. "People have just had enough of abuse of our police officers and sheriff's officers. These people puts their lives on the line and we do appreciate it,...
