Vets Day parade is big and musical

An historic parade in Goldendale

Cold bodies and warm hearts combined on the streets of Goldendale last Wednesday as dozens of people braved the chilly temperatures to watch the new Veterans Day parade and honor heroes.

Organized by the Goldendale Masonic Lodge, the parade was one of the largest the city has seen and, according to most bystanders, one of the best.

"I'm so glad I came," said one observer shivering against the cold. "It was really touching, and it had a great variety. And the band was so great!"

New to city parades (no one seems to remember the last time) was a marching band. New GHS music teacher Danny Schneider had his students with instruments in hand marching and playing.
