ART FOR SALE: Lots of artwork and craft items remain at Big River Art and Craft gallery before it shuts its doors next week.

Big River Art and Crafts gallery, after bouncing from building to building in Goldendale over the past few years, will close its doors for good next week.

"We just can't get enough volunteers to staff the place and keep it open," said one artist involved with the gallery. The art guild that operates the facility has members whose work is represented in the store and who are asked to volunteer time to staff it.

The gallery had been on Main Street until the building's owner raised rent to a level that the guild could not afford. It then moved to a storefront next to CARQUEST, and finally to a spot next door to Sodbuster's Restaurant.

The guild says it will continue and plans a meeting early...
