There is no middle point


To the Editor:

This is in response to Avery Hoyt’s letter inviting us to meet in the middle. I don’t think there is a middle when it comes to civil liberties.

The problem with so called gun control is that it’s not at all about gun control. Instead, it is only about control. This so-called blending means one group, the gun rights people, giving up something while the other side, gun control people, give up nothing. So this will be nothing but a slow death by a thousand cuts for the gun rights people.

Just exactly what is an assault rifle? As defined by our Department of Defense, it is a rifle capable of select fire, either full auto or semi-auto fire. These have been outlawed since...
