Eagles win Columbia Gorge league game 78-38 over Lyle-Wishram

 


Yakama Nation traveled to Lyle, last Saturday and walked off with a 78-38 win in the league opener for the Eagles and Lyle-Wishram. Ten players scored for the Eagles, led by Justin Strom’s 20 points. Gavyn Nelson led the Cougars with 18 points on a night that turnovers raised havoc with the Cougar offense. The Cougars had 28 turnovers in the game versus just 11 for the Eagles. Brett Rowan led Lyle-Wishram with nine rebounds and Desean Leslie and Dylon Sisson scored six points each.

Earlier in the week, Lyle-Wishram traveled to Troutdale to play Open Door Christian Academy and came home with a 54-40 win. Sisson was 4-10 on three-point shots, leading the team with 19 points and getting the double-double with a team high 10 rebounds. He also led the team with four steals. Nelson had 13 points and Mickey Jones had six points and three steals.

Monday was a tough challenge for the Cougars, taking on 1A Wahluke at Mattawa. The Warriors stormed out to a big lead and Lyle-Wishram never got back into the game, losing 60-44. Nelson had 18 points and Sisson had 12.

The Cougars were scheduled to play Stevenson in Lyle on Dec. 22 and will travel to Nacelle for a game on Dec. 29. They return for a league game against Trout Lake in Lyle on Jan. 8.
