When I wrote my column for the Dec. 23 paper, I mentioned the rough play in high school basketball, particularly among girls. It didn’t take long before a case in point arose when Bickleton’s Hannah Pond sustained a season ending injury. It wasn’t the kind of thing I had in mind, but it was the result of what I was talking about...lack of differentiating between hustling and being out of control. Apparently it would be a revelation to many players that basketball is a non-contact sport.
