Wilkins and Read pin their way to titles at Washougal invitational


Bryce Wilkins and Cameron Read ran the table with four straight pins to claim first place at the Washougal River Invitational wrestling meet. Their wins helped Goldendale secure fourth place out of 19 teams in the holiday tournament.

Wilkins won the 170 pound division with pins over wrestlers from Hockinson, R. A. Long, Battle Ground and Kalama.

Read’s win came at 220 pounds over wrestlers from Mark Morris, Hudson Bay, Kalama and La Center.

Also placing first with two of his wins coming from pins was Mark Briggs at 160 pounds.

Nine Timberwolves competed in the tournament and seven had wins by pin. Zane Cully placed second at 195 pounds with a pin and a 2-1 record.
