Rose Anna Jim

Rose Anna Jim Brewer was born Aug. 4, 1944 in Oregon to Louise Billy and Leslie Howtopat. She died Jan. 11, 2016.

Rose Anna grew up in the Rock Creek/Bickleton area and lived most of her life in the Goldendale area. She worked with the Yakama Tribe language program and was a teacher to Native people, teaching traditional ways of gathering food, beading and language.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ira and Joe Jim; brothers, Harvey and Danny Jim, Ernest Washines and Lester Boy; and two sisters, Ella Jim and Evelyn Sam.

Survivors include daughters, Bonny Jim, Athena Jim, and Marcella Jim; son, Marcus Jim; sisters, Elaine Howtopat, Ernestine Morningowl, Cynthia Espirito, Ruth Jim, Wilma Buck, Margaret Jim, Melissa James, Sarah Jim, and Doris Jim; brothers, Lindsey Howtopat, Clifford Jim and Donovan Caldera. She is also survived by Tillie Sharloo, Vivian Harrison, Marion Albert, the Red Hatters and all her white Goldendale friends.

A dressing service was held Jan. 12, with traditional Indian services the evening of Jan. 12 at Georgeville. Additional services were held Jan. 13 at Rock Creek, and burial was Jan. 14 at Black Wolf Cemetery.
