CON: The school bond: necessity or frill?

I was surprised to see so few people attending the Nov. 5 school district bond presentation. I would have thought a $12 million bond issue would interest the voters. The bond issue includes 21 items, many of which are unjustified.

Let’s start with the $714,000 bathrooms (1,700 sf) to replace the outside portable toilets. One could buy a very nice house overlooking Puget Sound for that price. Alternatively, one could contract with TLC locally for a much lower price. Is it really necessary for the taxpayer to pay for such an extravagance because some people, who evidently have pull with the school board and administration, have delicate bottoms?
