Seniors to take first step toward State on Saturday at Granger

TURNING POINT: Demetrius McCoy scored a pin in an exhibition match during the dual against Zillah. Goldendale competes at Granger in the District tournament this Saturday.

Daniel Wedgwood returned to the mat for the first time since being sidelined with a knee injury and promptly scored a pin to log the first win for Goldendale in Thursday's home meet against Zillah. The win came 39 seconds into the match for the Goldendale senior, starting a run of three pins and a forfeit win out of six matches from 152 pound through Cameron Read's pin at 220 pounds.

In the end, Zillah had the upper hand in too many matches and the benefit of four, forfeit wins for a 54-24 team victory in the final league match. Goldendale finished with a 2-3 record, fourth in the SCAC West. Zillah was second at 4-1 behind Granger who went undefeated.
