High Simcoes' Air: Goldendale community radio

Goldendale Community Radio announces a new program schedule for February, including locally produced and hosted radio shows. Here is a quick look at what you will find playing on KVGD-LP at 100.1FM coming up this week.

Each Sunday from noon until 4 pm, Teresa Clyne hosts Sunday Country Oldies Hour, messages from New Life Assembly of God Church ministry, and Contemporary Christian music. Wood Song Old Time Radio Hour airs afterward from 4 pm to 5 pm.

If you would like to hear messages on the Sunday broadcast on KVGD, from your pastor, teacher or special speaker from your place of worship, be sure to ask them to contact KVGD at 773-0645 or email kvgd@kvgd.info and put Sunday message in the subject line.

Pat Horn is the host of a Spanish language program each Sunday from 5 pm to 6 pm. Listeners can tune in for news of the week from Informativo Pacifica in Spanish, followed by a live devotional piece and assorted readings during the hour. Also on Sunday, 6 pm to 7 pm, Pat offers a weekly half-hour of poetry (Spanish), followed by a half-hour program of poetry and analysis titled Poiesis produced by WHYR in English.

Don Blake, DJ, offers his regular listeners a new music show to air each Saturday night from 7 pm to 11 pm. He has retired Innocuous, the late night show that he hosted three nights per week from October through January. His new show is titled Don’s One Night Stand and will include more great selections from Don’s extensive vinyl and CD collections.

This week’s episode of KVGD-LP’s Bluelight to Pucker Huddle radio series is about Day of the Dead celebrations in Klickitat County, based on an essay in the book of the same title, published by Friends of Goldendale Library in 2005. The half-hour program includes an interview by Sandra Choate with musician, Tony Eagleheart Garcia, that took pace during a Day of the Dead celebration held at Monkeyshines Studio and Gallery on South Columbus, November 2015. This local history-based half-hour program on KVGD-LP is broadcast at noon on Tuesday, and repeats Saturday at 9 am.

Marsha Anderson, creator of the educational word game Words Emerge, is the guest this week on We Too Do The Work, a half-hour interview program that airs each Thursday at 9:30 am, hosted by Cory Eberhart.

The Simcoe Spot is a weekly, hour-long showcase for local musicians, each Friday at 7 p.m. on KVGD-LP. Robbie Wilson, lead guitar and singer for Grindhouse is the guest performer on Feb. 12. He will talk about his past experience in creating and producing an original album in eight days as part of the annual RPM Challenge held in February. Other band members involved with that project included Melissa Johnson (vocals), Aaron Israel (drums), and Tony Dunne (bass and vocals).

Goldendale Community Radio is looking for volunteers, including those who would like to host a show. More at http://kvgd.info. Program information is online at http://kvgd.fm.
