Don Kemp


Don Kemp, Sr. passed away at the age of 84 on Feb. 3, 2016 at the Oregon Veterans’ Home in The Dalles, Oregon.

He served in the United States Marines in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. After military service, Don was a Klickitat County sheriff’s deputy and later was employed by the City of Goldendale Police Department as police chief for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2014; his parents Elmer and Esther Kemp; his brothers Marvin, Stanley and Junior; and his stepdaughter Cindy. He is survived by his son Don Jr .; his stepson Bill Thiessen; many nieces and nephews; and sister Luella.

Don and his wife Mary will be laid to rest at the Mt. View Cemetery Veterans’ Section on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. with graveside services. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel took care of cremation arrangements.
