Clearing up some points


To the Editor:

Thank you for your article on the proposed acquisition of the 60-acre piece of land on Bowman Creek by the WDFW.

The author listed several reasons why the sale is deemed important by the WDFW, though more mention could have been made of the importance of protecting Bowman Creek as a major tributary of the Klickitat River with its salmon and steelhead runs.

Also mentioned is the fact that the state would reimburse the county in lieu of taxes at a rate that would mean less revenue for the county. Here it’s important to keep in mind that much of this will likely be somewhat offset by an increase in the amounts of money spent locally by future visiting hunters and other outdo...
