Margaret Ann Koreski

Margaret Ann Koreski died on February 12th, 2016 due to heart surgery complications, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchild. Margie was born March 10th, 1955 in Torrence, Calif. She was born to Albert and Patricia Whipple, the youngest of four.

She attended Crenshaw Elementary and remained lifelong friends with many of these classmates. She graduated from North High School in 1973. She was very involved at St. Catherine's Church in Torrence and, here also, made many lifelong friends, including her husband. She married Martin Koreski in 1983 and moved to Goldendale where they owned and operated Mountaindale Maintenance Carpet Cleaning for 28 years. She raised two children, Amy and Joseph. Her faith and family were the center of her whole life.

She was an active volunteer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 2011, Martin and Margie moved to the Cascade Mountains to take care of a YMCA summer camp where she became known as Mama K, the beloved mother figure to young staff and kids each summer. She enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors.

She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Patricia Whipple, brother Bud Whipple, sister Marian Whipple, and nephew Bobby Whipple. She is survived by her husband Martin Koreski, her children, Amy Nelsen and Joseph Koreski; her grandson Josiah Nelsen, and her brother Ross Whipple and family.

Margie was a beloved wife and mother. She shared the love of God with all those she met.

Vigil Service with viewing will be at Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima on Thursday, February 18th, at 6:30. Funeral Mass will be at St. Paul's Cathedral on Friday, February 19th at 10 am followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Reception at St. Paul's. All are invited.
