Lady Cougars eliminate Bickleton, one game away from Regionals

STEADY: Katrina Cardenas was a steady hand at point guard this year for Bickleton, elevating her role when Hannah Pond went out with an injury back in December.

Lyle-Wishram overcame a slow start to run away with the elimination game in the girls' District tournament, Saturday. After scoring just two points in the first quarter, the Cougars scored 41 points in the middle quarters and won 57-35.

The Cougars were a little deliberate in the opening minutes of the game and probably made one too many passes on offense which accounted for just 20 percent shooting from the floor. Bickleton managed to break the Cougar press and shot well, going 6-10 with a couple of key baskets coming from Lacy Cannon and Rosy Molina. Kira Harvey and Katrina Cardenas dominated the rebounding, allowing the Pirates to overcome a 13-4 turnover deficit.
