Pirates eliminate Cougars, Eagles stun Knights at District tourney in Goldendale


DECISIONS: Bickelton's Henry Pond looks for an assist against Yakama Nation in the first round game. The only avenue for scoring was inside with power drives from Kyle Underwood, who scored 18 points and Riley Brown who used his size to score 10.

Bickleton beat Lyle-Wishram in all facets of the game for a 64-28 win in the elimination round of the District 5, 1B playoffs, Saturday. Nathan Powers had a double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in just over three quarters of play to lead Bickleton. It was a come-back game, of sorts, for the league Player of the Year who was shut down the night before by Yakama Nation. The Eagles held Powers to three points, mainly by denying him the ball. This time around, Powers was everywhere and he shot 46 percent from the field, including four three-point shots.
