Zane Cully wins Regional, four Timberwolves advance to State

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Zane Cully was a win short of the medal run, wrestling at State, on top, above. The senior has one last shot this year along with fellow senior Mark Briggs. Teammate Bryce Wilkins looks to improve on his sixth place in his last year and junior Cameron Reed also looks for a better finish in his return to State.

Zane Cully is the Regional champion for District 5 wrestling at 182 pounds and will lead a group of four Timberwolves to Mat Classic this weekend. Three of Goldendale's qualifiers are seniors (Cully, Bryce Wilkins and Mark Briggs) and one is a junior, Cameron Read.

Cully found himself in the finals against Zillah's Chase Pidgeon. The two wrestled against each other in the Zillah-Goldendale dual two weeks ago and again last week at District. Both of those matches were won by Pidgeon on points. Cully didn't let it get that far this time, stopping the match in the third round with a pin. Cully is making his second trip to State. Last year Cully had a 1-2 record at 182 pounds with two losses...
