County Fair changes schedule, seeks volunteers

The Klickitat County Fair Board is looking for volunteers to chair four major events at the County Fair. A Queen Coordinator is needed to help coordinate required public appearances of the Klickitat County Fair Queen. Duties include but are not limited to organizing the Queen contest held during the Fair, set the public appearances of the Queen, help her with her budget and with any fund raising events she may need to do. A chairman for the ticket booths which are operated during the Fair is also needed. This entails organizing volunteers to take tickets at two different gates at the fair for four days. The other position open is for the Wine Tasting Event which is held during the Kick-Off Barbecue on Thursday night. A chairman is needed to contact the various wineries in the County and to set up and oversee the event during the afternoon. There is also an opening in the livestock barn with the dairy goats. This position entails working with a judge, the exhibitors and setting up the stall assignments. Anyone interested in any of these four projects please visit the website at and click on “get involved” then on “volunteers” where you will find an application form.

Some proposed schedule changes for this year’s fair are for Wednesday’s program. A new check in time of noon to 3 p.m. for all livestock with an exhibitors meeting to follow at 3:15 p.m. This change will allow the Ranch Sorting to start at 4 p.m. Anyone having any questions or concerns please contact President Robin Goodnight at (509) 896-2303 for more information.
