City awards contract on improvement project


The Goldendale City Council met in special session Monday night to consider bids received for the West Columbus Neighborhood Improvement Project. City Administrator Larry Bellamy said Tuesday that the reason for the special meeting was that all the bids came in higher than the engineer’s estimate of $1,900,000.

“If the council was going to reject all bids, then we needed to do that right away, and the reason for the special session was to discuss that item then decide which direction we were going to take,” Bellamy said.
