Dyment on beating death and 29 years with police

DECADES OF SERVICE: Goldendale Police Chief Reggie Bartkowski (left) presents Kevin Dyment a plaque last week honoring his 29 years of service to the department. Dyment is retiring.

"I think this is where God wanted me to be," Kevin Dyment states, reflecting on his 29 years as a Goldendale police officer. "I think it was a great place to come and to serve the people of Goldendale, and it was a great job for myself as well. It is a great place to raise a family, it's a wonderful place to work. I recognize that none of us are going to get rich in Goldendale, but there are way more important things than that. Those important things Goldendale has an abundance of: a wonderful place to live, a wonderful place to raise kids, a wonderful place to be a police officer. Maybe one of the best places in the United States to be a police officer."
