Sales of marijuana in Klickitat County plummet as Oregon market opens


It’s a bad time right now to be a pot seller in Washington along the Columbia River Gorge. According to Associated Press (AP) reporter Nicole Crombie in a story Monday, sales on the northern edge of the Gorge have slipped dramatically, 47 percent in Klickitat County alone.

The drop follows the beginning of legalized marijuana sales in Oregon in October.

The AP story features comments from Margie Lemberger, owner of Margie’s Pot Shop in Bingen. Lemberger’s sales peaked at $172,000 in August last year, before Oregon marijuana sales began. Since then, sales have been cut in half.
