Gorge League ladies mastering the javelin

TOP THROWER: Alex Cloud tied for first place with a 110-foot javelin toss at Glenwood. The Lyle-Wishram thrower is leading the Gorge League in the event and has three wins this year plus a PR 112-7.

Things are heating up in the javelin competition for 1B girls following the Jeff Agar Memorial invitational track meet, last Friday in Glenwood.

Alex Cloud, of Lyle-Wishram and Liz Fink, of Trout Lake were on top of the event with throws of 110-feet. It marked the first time Fink has passed the 100 foot mark, putting her in elite company. Juli Quinton, of Klickitat was third at 109-feet and Lacy Carse, of Lyle-Wishram was the only other with a 100-foot throw at 105-10.

There have been 12 tosses beyond 100 feet this year among Greater Columbia Gorge girls. Cloud is at the top with a PR throw of 112-7. Cloud has five of the 12, 100 plus tosses. Quinton had a 109-7 toss in her first meet thi...
