What happens when the best hurdler in division 1B goes head to head with the fastest hurdler at last year's State 1A track meet?

HURDLE SHOWDOWN: Friday was a much anticipated showdown of hurdlers, Brian Golding, of Goldendale and Nathan Powers, of Bickleton. Each is the league leader in 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Golding won both races, edging Powers, above in the 110 in a time of 15.04 to Powers' 15.70, personal records for both runners.

The answer is great racing, and it happened at Glenwood last Friday when Nathan Powers, of Bickleton and Brian Golding, of Goldendale went head-to-head in the middle two lanes for the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles.

Powers won State 1B in both events last year. And, while he didn't win those events at State 1A, Golding ran the fastest 110 meter race in the preliminary heats. On Friday, the runners were neck and neck throughout most of the race. Powers hit a hurdle down the stretch in the 110 meter race and Golding got the win in a Personal Record (PR) 15.04 seconds. Powers was timed at 15.70, which was also a PR for Powers. Powers' winning time at State last year was 15.97.
