It's cattle drive season again


To the Editor:

Every major election cycle the vocal political zealots get us all fired up in order to get someone elected. Frequently, they characterize issues in ways that bring great stress to potential voters, hoping to stir them to action. Often this characterization of issues is misleading and ultimately false to the point of being insulting to our intelligence as Americans.

I like to think of the whole political system as a huge ranch of cattle and sheep. A number of cowboys (elected officials) on their high horses herd the cattle and sheep (we the people) around the range, then into various pastures and pens.
