Cougars 1-2 in playoffs, end season with 11-8 record

Lyle-Wishram/Klickitat played its way into the 2B District tournament last week with a 15-8 win over Soap Lake. Zach Miller staked the team to a 7-3 lead before being relieved by Chad Hester in the fourth inning. Soap Lake made a late run, but Hester sparked a pair of four-run innings with his hitting and base-running to give the Cougars a comfortable lead. Gavyn Nelson pitched the final inning, striking out the side after loading the bases.

The opening game of the District tournament in Moses Lake was against a tough Brewster team, and it did not go well for Lyle-Wishram/Klickitat. Fielding woes allowed Brewster to score nine runs in the first inning without a hit. It proved to be more...
