Emma Catherine (Veelle) Goddard

Emma was born on November 9, 1926 at Molalla, Oregon to Emil G. Veelle and Clara (Walch) Veelle. Emma was the oldest of 11 siblings. She passed away at her daughter's home in Garfield, where she had moved in October 2015, surrounded by loved ones. Emma grew up in the Molalla area. In 1945 her family moved to Goldendale. She worked at the East side Cafe and that is where she met her future husband. A.C. "Laddie" Goddard. Emma and Laddie were married November 1, 1948 in the Lutheran Church at Klickitat and the couple made a home on a wheat ranch near Roosevelt, in the Sundale area. In 1953, they lost everything in a house fire. With Emma's help, the ranch grew to 2,000 acres. She and Laddie retired to Goldendale in 1998. Emma loved to bake, garden, can, and crochet and was a 70 year member of the Goldendale Grange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laddie in 1999, grandson Jamie Goddard, son in law Alford Hamllik, brothers Robert, George, Ray, and Emil C Veelle. She is survived by her son Nicky (Becky) Goddard of Goldendale, daughters Linda (Harlan) Carr of Ephrata and Kathy (Joe) Merry of Garfield. She is also survived by her brothers Elmer, Albert, Melvin, Clifford and Larry Veelle and sisters Mable Smith and Gloria Wilcox, Grandchildren Lynn Ward, Joshua Hamllik, Melissa Gallegos, Sarah Best and Jess Carr, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on June 9 at 1 pm at the Community Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Greg Howell and Pastor Dave Caudle, of the Calvary Chapel of the Palouse, presiding. Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse is in charge of her remains.
