Lyle students make double-digit gains in English and math proficiency


During the 2015-16 school year, Lyle Schools have implemented many reforms, which, according to state testing data, have paid off. Elementary cohorts in tested grades saw gains on both the English Language Arts (ELA) and Math Smarter Balance tests of double-digit percentage points over their cohort’s previous year’s scores.

Fourth grade students’ proficiency in both ELA and math in 2015-16 was 22 percentage points higher than it was for the same cohort of students when they were in third grade in 2014-15. These students demonstrated proficiency in ELA and math at very nearly the state average for fourth grade for 2015-16.
