Mid-Columbia Kids Camp set for this year

This year’s Mid-Columbia Kids Camp is from Aug. 8 to Aug. 12 and is sponsored by the Nazarene Churches in the mid-Columbia area. The camping season will be at Camp Morrow, located near Wamic, Ore. The group will leave from the Father’s House Fellowship Church (207 S. Klickitat Street, Goldendale) at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8. The group will return to the same place at about 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12. The fee for this year’s camp is $95. It is open to both boys and girls, for ages between those who have just finished the second grade to those who have just finished the sixth grade.

Round trip transportation to camp will be provided at no extra charge. There are adequate vehicles to take passengers and luggage. The trip to Camp Morrow from Goldendale is about an hour and a half.

A fundraiser dinner to benefit campers who need financial assistance will be held at New Life Assembly of God Church on Sunday, July 24. The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, and watermelon. Serving will begin at noon and will continue until about 2 p.m. or until the food runs out. All of the food has been donated, and those who come to eat may donate whatever amount they wish to the project. There is no set price for the meal. All of the campers who come to help with the dinner will share equally in the profits of the venture.

The food preparation work for the dinner will be done at the Father’s House Fellowship church kitchen at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 23. This usually takes about two or three hours. Come in the back door facing Allyn Street and into the kitchen/fellowship hall in the basement of the building. Campers who want to take part in the dinner project may work either on Saturday or at the dinner on Sunday but do not have to do both. Those who want to work at the dinner should show up at the Assembly of God Church at 11:30 a.m. It would be helpful to have some parents join their kids during this process, but this is not necessary. Families will be notified as to how much each camper will receive within a few days of the dinner so that there is some time to raise the remainder of the camp fee.

If you know of other kids who would like to attend this, there is room for more. Applications are available at Dr. James Ogden’s office (103 E. Main Street. For more information, call 773-4114.
