Wayne Joseph "Joe" Wenz

Wayne Joseph “Joe” Wenz was born March 2, 1953, and died June 13, 2016.

Joe and his family moved around a bit during his growing up years. They settled eventually in the White Salmon area. As a teenager Joe spent many a day hot-rodding down Snowden road. He would get a twinkle in his eye reliving the memories made with many good friends who are still in the area. Joe then settled in MillA, then Goldendale for a number of years before returning to the White Salmon area.

Joe spent a number of years logging in the woods, his favorite area was up on Curly Creek, and he loved to talk about having the boys and the dog out with him on the weekends. He then moved out of logging and used his gift as a mechanic working on heavy equipment at Frontage Tractor and then for Munson Paving where he worked until he suffered some health issues that forced him into early retirement.

Joe was most at home in the woods, whether it be camping, hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms or just driving around. For as much as he enjoyed being alone, especially with a good book or with family in the woods he also enjoyed getting together with friends and enjoying a cold one and many stories. For as tough as he liked to appear he had a good heart and truly enjoyed helping people. He enjoyed his dogs as much or more than he enjoyed people and they brought him not only company out in the woods, but great joy.

At his request there will not be a formal service, for those of you that knew Joe well that shouldn’t be a surprise, he never wanted a fuss made about him.
