Construction on US 97 begins today

Lane closures will impact traffic from Biggs Bridge north


Years of wear and tear have taken a toll on US 97 in Klickitat County, but that is about to change.

Today Washington State Department of Transportation contractor Granite Construction begins work to pave more than seven miles of US 97 from the Biggs Rapids Bridge to Prairie Road.

“Cracks and ruts are signs US 97 has seen better days,” said WSDOT Project Engineer Lori Figone. “We’re doing this work now to preserve the road and provide a smoother ride for drivers.”
