Myers says its time to pass the torch...Padgett and Padgett carry on the Myers touch in volleyball and basketball at LW

FAMILY MATTER: Scott Myers decided now is the time to step away from coaching, after 22 years at Lyle-Wishram. His influence will carry on with the pair he refers to as 'my boys," son Chad, at right, Columbia-White Salmon basketball coach, and son-in-law Josh Padgett, at left, new head coach of Lyle-Wishram basketball. His daughter, Meagan Padgett, center is the new assistant volleyball coach at Lyle-Wishram.

Some time back in February, Scott Myers coached his final game at Lyle. The date isn't important because in many ways, Myers is still coaching.

Myers' high school coaching career at Lyle began 22 years ago and his legacy as a coach carries on with his children who also coach at area high schools. Myers' son Chad, coaches at Columbia-White Salmon, and his son-in-law Josh Padgett will succeed Myers as head basketball coach at Lyle-Wishram. Myers has two daughters, Kailee and Meagan. Meagan is married to Padgett. She also coaches and will begin her first year as an assistant volleyball coach at Lyle-Wishram, this fall

Myers went to college with the idea of becoming a coach. It didn't quite...
