Jerry Lynch Community Center adds vitality to Klickitat

GETTING IT DONE: Former Klickitat School Superintendent, Jerry Lynch addresses the crowd gathered to dedicate the Community Center that bears him name. Lynch recognized several other key figures who got the job done, including from Lynch's left: Jeff Hunter, Klickitat County Planning engineer, Kevin Davis, Klickitat School Superintendent, Sherry Wickert of Mid-Columbia Economic Development, and Klickitat County Commissioner David Sauter.

The official dedication of the Jerry Lynch Community Center was held in Klickitat, Friday. Many of the people who had a hand in the completion of the new center were on hand to cheer as Lynch cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Lynch, who recently retired as school Superintendent, was instrumental in securing the final funding that brought about the renovation of the old Champion Lumber Company administration building into a museum, food bank, school offices and community center.

The funding sources were: US Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant ($1 million), Washington State Community Department of Commerce Community Economic Revitalization Board grant ($500,000), USDA Rural...
