Police advise locking doors to thwart prowlers

Goldendale Police report low crime numbers during the recent weeks, but they have sent out an alert to the public to keep vehicles locked. Last week, four vehicles were prowled within a two block area. Three of the cars were not locked and the fourth was locked, but had a window open wide enough for the prowler to unlock the door.

Typically during the summer months, open windows and unlocked cars are invitations for prowling, which is a crime of opportunity, according to police. Suspicious individuals should be reported, but the main defense against prowling is to keep vehicles and buildings locked.
