Diversity important to survival of steelhead, says biologist

Strong wild steelhead runs throughout the Northwest is the measure of success that a group of fishers are seeking, according to Nick Chambers. Chambers is a biologist with the Wild Steelhead Initiative, a sub-group of Trout Unlimited. He shared the organization's goals during last week's meeting of Trout Unlimited at Columbia Bank in Goldendale.

Chambers talked about the broad habitat of steelhead, which he said has at least 32 "life histories." Life histories is a way biologists describe the varied forms of an animal species.
