The Goldendale Sentinel - Headlines & History since 1879

Sentinel All-Star leaves the game

Andrew Christiansen, sports writer and reporter and all-around helping hand for The Sentinel the last several years, retires from journalism today. We will miss him and his constant extra-mile attitude, and we wish him well. If he had a number, we’d retire it.

Taking over Andrew’s position is Goldendale’s own Jaryd Cline, who has been plying his journalism trade at The Daily News-Miner in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the past two years. Jaryd graduated from Goldendale High School in 2010 (where he was a three-sport athlete) and from Central Washington University in 2014.

Jaryd’s residence in Fairbanks is so far north and inland he can’t even see Russia from it, so it’s going to take him some time to find a good home for his pet moose (yes, I’m kidding—I think) and drive back down to Goldendale. Look for him to start mid-September. And in the meantime, we ask our sports fans to be patient between Andrew’s departure and Jaryd’s arrival.
