Chapman Creek Fire burns 3,000 acres

 


At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, a wildfire was reported in the area of 407 Old Hwy 8 in south east Klickitat County. The fire quickly grew spreading west and south towards Hwy 14 and the area of Sundale. As of 6:30 p.m. the fire had burned over an approximated 3,000 acres.

The Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office has issued a level 3, mandatory evacuation notice for the area between Old Hwy 8 and Rock Creek Road and level 2 be ready evacuation notice to residents north of Old Hwy 8 north to Newell Road. Twenty to 30 residences are in the evacuation area.
