Cougars spikers end busy week, sweep Mabton in first home game


The Lyle-Wishram Lady Cougars spikers brought out the brooms in their home opener against Mabton last Thursday, sweeping the Vikings in three sets.

After falling at Sherman on Sept. 12 and at White Swan on Sept. 13, the Cougars bounced back with a three-set (25-18, 25-21 and 25-19) win led by Italian exchange student Iris Gatti, who finished with 20 assists and two service aces.

It was a busy week for Lyle-Wishram playing three matches in four days, the only such stretch this season for the team.

"Overall, (Thursday) night was a positive end to a long but rewarding week of play," Cougars head coach Jane Roberts said in an email to The Sentinel.
