Home with Heroes kicks off activities for veterans

The main goal of Home with Heroes (HWH)—a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to veterans—is to give veterans some fresh and positive experiences.

This year HWH began their Washington series of events with a 5K Run & Gun on June 4. Since then, HWH has hosted a Golf Tourney with which to gather donations and is now gearing up to thank local veterans with some seasonal outdoor fun.

On the weekend of Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, HWH will open the doors of Horseshoe Bend ranch to a selection of nominated veterans, transporting them from Vancouver via a Patriot Guard and police escort.

For this weekend, HWH provides food, lodging, and entertainment in the form of a benefit concert on Saturday evening at Canyon Market in Klicktat and other opportunities to take advantage of their proximity to the great outdoors.

Late in October, HWH will continue the offering of outdoor activities with a week-long Deer Camp. The week of October 15-22, the ranch will host a group of veterans for hunting deer enjoying good food, campfire, and chances to socialize.

People can donate money to HWH by paying to nominate or sponsor a veteran to attend HWH events.
