Sentinel's 2017 photo calendar contest now under way

Gather up those amazing photos you’ve been taking throughout the year and get them ready to win some prizes.

Rules: The photo can be of any scenic spot in or around Goldendale. Color photos must be horizontal. Digital photos are encouraged—we can scan a print but the quality may not be as good— and they should be at a resolution of at least 300 dpi. (We could go to 200 dpi if the photo is exceptional and there is no higher resolution available.) We cannot accept slides. There is a limit of three photo entries per person, please. Submit photos to The Goldendale Sentinel, 117 West Main Street, Goldendale, WA 98620. OR you can submit photos online with 2017 Calendar Contest in the subject line; send to Please realize failure to observe these rules will necessitate automatic disqualification of your picture(s).

Entry deadline: October 28, 2016. Please include your Name, Address, Phone Number and Email Address.

Prizes: A prize will be given for every photo selected for each of the 12 months of 2017; these are to be determined but it’ll be something definitely high on the coolness meter. The exact prizes will be announced before the end of the contest. If your photo appears on the cover, you will receive a top prize also to be determined (in past years we’ve given away a camera drone and an Android tablet). Photos and their respective prizes may be claimed after the results are announced.

Judging: As in past years, all photos will be judged blind—that means all photos are stored in their original form in one folder on our server, and copies of each with all identifying information removed are placed in another folder. Only the unidentifiable photos are used for judging. Final decisions are made by the owners and publisher of The Sentinel, also blindly. Judging will take place immediately after the submission deadline. The calendar will be unveiled in November.
