Success needs you' seeks to set students up for success

I am Reanna Holycross, the public relations specialist at Goldendale High School. My position was created in an effort to better communicate what happens at the school with the public. This year the student council wishes to provide a more effective way for the community to gain more knowledge about the high school’s activities.

With that being said the 2016-2017 GHS school year has begun! The first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 31, started with a fresh outlook on the year and the focus of the students and staff shifting to a growth mindset.

Along with this new target theme, the idea of “Success Needs You!” was chosen to inspire students. The goal of these new ideas is to help students work to have the mindset to set them up for success despite the adversity they will face. Each individual has a different definition for success but the mindset of attaining success has very similar qualities based on each person. The whole student body was pulled to the gym to watch a video revolving around this year’s focus. I met with Mr.Westerman to ask him for a statement regarding the new school year and his response was this: “The students and staff need to always have the attitude of never giving up and to keep trying.” The new theme of a changed mindset combines with the “Success Needs You” idea. Students and staff can work together while persevering through challenges to make it a phenomenal, successful school year.
